Honestly, this.
At reveal I thought they looked kinda shit with the only positive being that Pokemon themselves had actual textures like Magnemite looking more metallic. Then the game released and it looks and ran a shit ton worse than I imagined it would.

Nah, I expected something worse than Gen 8 since every generation had been worse than the last starting from 6, but instead I got something about on par with Gen 7 quality-wise, so not good, but a definitive improvement, which is a first for the mainline games in over a decade now. .
