it's ugly and completely devoid of any depth. The pokemon are just randomly placed and rarely have any interactions with the environment. Items are just randomized sparkles on the ground rather than actual elements of the overworld like most other open world games. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing, anon, you just don't play other games. Monster Hunter World, a game from years ago, absolutely mogs pokemon in this regard.

It used to be EXTREMELY RARE and in late or post game areas.
Now it's basically become the standard.

There are Pokemon who live in trees, flying Pokemon flying, water Pokemon swimming, Pokemon living in herds, Pokemon sleeping. Pokemon like Glimmora staying attached to cave walls, Voltorb exploding if it sees you, balloon Pokemon getting blown away when it's stormy. What other interactions are they supposed to have?

Did you actually do the raid though. Pretty much every six star raid is harder than 90% of any other Pokemon content ever made and requires a counter specifically made for it and maybe a team to beat.

Immersion is an element of open world games, anon. When the graphics, textures, and overall map design are awful, it crosses over into being bad design.

There is barely anything to explore. Look at Genshin's overworld, which is developed by a literal Chinese mobile game company. It is rich with layered environments, overworld puzzles, enemies that actually feel like they exist in the world rather than just popping up everywhere

HOOBOY okay then, where to start. First of all, I am going to assume by the way you just spat at my handshake that you are in fact the one seething here. I’ll try to be diplomatic about this then. As I have explained, I play open world games for the immersion. Games like subnautica, grounded, monster hunter world, and yes even Genshin Impact, are in a whole separate echelon from both of pokemon’s open world forays. Subnautica and Grounded need no explanation because they are both teeming with attention to detail, environments that your actions as a player can change or affect, actual player freedom, and realistically integrated wildlife. Instead let’s talk about monster hunter world. That game is really similar in structure to PLA, but in terms of open world, it is vastly superior. Every single type of berry or mineral has its own overworld model. There are functioning predator/prey relationships. There are also overworld puzzles that Pokémon has yet to even approach. One example— you can locate the Rathalos nest in the Ancient Forest by climbing to the highest point in the biome— which by the way involves traversing a variety of micro-biomes and isn’t just “lol climb up.” Once you get to the best, you can steal the egg, which will draw aggro from the Raths. This is useful for a variety of reasons. It can simplify hunting those particular monsters, but it can also be bait to trigger turf wars with other monsters. Genshin, I’ve already talked about, but there is literally a puzzle like every 30 feet in that open world. And yeah, I guess you could call Glaseado a “rich and layered environment” but it holds a pale candle to the bonfire that is Dragonspine. It would be very disingenuous to argue otherwise. I recommend you check out all of the games mentioned above because none of them are new. (1/2)

(2/2)They are various flavors of what open world games have been doing for decades. Series like Farcry and TES and Fallout and The Witcher and Red Dead set the bar for this sort of thing console generations ago and GF has not even close to caught up. PLA was a pretty decent open world game by my standards, but it should have been the launching point. Even then it was weighed down by awful boss fights. We’re talking worse than PS era Spyro bosses by a pretty big margin. And of the games I mentioned before, the two that are superficially similar to PLA (monhun and Genshin) both are full of great boss fights. S/V on the other hand just don’t compete with any of the above. They were hard-carried (for me, at least) by my enjoyment of the franchise. I still wouldn’t ever call them good open world games. An acceptable first step if you ignore that PLA already exists I guess, but far from industry standard.

What exactly is the problem? DLC 2 is a post game area.
I made a beeline for chargestone cave, caught a level 70 Beldum, fed it two rare candies, an adamant herb and a fuck ton of vitamins, mochi + wings. Took me all of an hour to have it EV trained and shoving it's armleg things up the E4's asses.

There is actually a lot of them but many will never be noticed.
I just recently saw Pachirisu can climb trees, and there is actually a lot of pokemon that can feed on bushes.

It's not only this but also the fact that you get treated as a progidy by everyone you meet. I think this started in Gen 3 to a lesser extreme, but they really kicked it up by Gen 5 and in SV it's become really unbearable. I just want to go on a comfy adventure again like Gen 2 where you go around helping people around. But ADHD zoomers can't immerse themselves into a world like that unless everyone is slobbering on their knob 24/7. I also don't like being able to find stone/trade evolutions/etc. in the wild, but that's more of an autism thing.
