Megas are not treated as new Pokémon. They gave dex numbers and treated paradoxes as different to bloat the dex number for Gen 9. If Gen 6 did the same thing, then we would've 129 new Gen 6 Pokémon instead 81. It's all playing with numbers.

your mom really shone in bed last night. paradoxes are a dumb gimmick and shouldnt have been given dex numbers so they can more readily be abandoned as a gimmick down the line, the way things like megas have been abandoned because they dont have their own dex numbers but other things still show up in merchandising and etc. as is in a few years they're gonna be unfortunate legacy bloat
