We don't know what's going to happen to Kieran afterwards, he's strong enough to do whatever he wants, really. The point is that compared to every other character ever, he does everything to beat the MC and only gives up after everything fails, and he ONLY fails because of plot armor because the story doesn't allow him to win as seen by him righting the wrong of letting the MC take Ogerpon by masterballing the turtle and STILL losing Terapagos.
The weird thing is that we both agree that he fails, but your take on it is that he fails because he fucking sucks despite being stronger than every other rival minus Super Sayain Nemona and having better feats than even evil team leaders.
Kieran loses because the will of god says so. It's fucked up and makes him S tier as a rival.
