But it's still weird that they make so many characters - male and female ones - be so obviously thirsty for the MC. And good that the first anon posted the Lillie dialogue cause that's very important to what I mean:
The games have had slight tones of romance in earlier gens too, like with Shauna and Lillie. But as you see in the screenshots, the dialogue differs between male and female players. Lillie's dialogue seems with Elio seems more like a confession ("I want to travel together WITH you so we can spend more time together") than the dialogue with Selene ("I wanna be more LIKE you cause you're a role model to me")
THAT'S kinda the key here, because most boys will obviously play as the boy, so it's not weird when a girl seems to have a little crush on them. But now all dialogue is exactly the same no matter if the player character is male or female, and there's several characters who are borderline flirty with the MC. And that's kinda weird.
I personally really don't mind cause I'm bi but it would've definitely "confused" me a little if I had played this as an 8 year old. Just saying
