While it is does not represent the most popular pokemon with typical fans it does represent the most profitable pokemon (in Japan) under the assumption that the more merch a pokemon has the higher likelihood that people want to buy merch of that said pokemon (you don’t just create 200+ merch of a specific pokemon and not expect people to buy any of them). Fans can whine all day that their favorite pokemon isn’t getting fair treatment but from TPC’s perspective it’s more profitable to create marketable plushies than to listen to the demands of gamers.

I don't buy this whatsoever until I see some kind of actual source to it. The older version was sourced to some Japanese blog with the methodology behind it but this is the first time its been posted on /vp/ and has no reverse image search results either. The previous version of the image was RIPE for shitposting and genwarring so I have no reason as to why this couldn't be fraudulent to create more of that
