There's also the fact while they do update the timeline/events so current game meshes with real world events in passing, there's only about 15 years between RG/B and SV's events (SM's Red/Blue battle had them looking in their early 20's a reference to how long the series was alive at that stage, but also only ten-ish years from when Red and Blue started their own pokemon journeys in-lore). And Elesa was stated to be a young gym leader. She's also very likely wealthy, so old man money isn't going to turn her head and make her drop her knickers like ny NPC woman would. Odds are, Game Freak decided Elesa was still too young to have had kids, thus they picked the older man, who almost certainly had a family he went home to after work from conceptualisation for BW and canonised that.
