Haven’t played either. Which one should I play first? Want to so a randomized nuzlocke.

XY are mediocre with wasted potential, SM are shit to the core. Might as well start with XY since there are a couple of NPCs from that game that appear in SM.

Theyre both pretty mediocre, sadly. Id like to say SM, as it has more overall content, and finally abandoned the grid based system, but what they did in lieu of that holds it back. Absolutely mind numbing levels of hand holding, and it feels the most childish in the series by far.

XYs probably got a better balance of available mons, so depending on how your randomizer is set up, its probably just better overall by a slight degree.

Sun and moon just because it’s harder than XY, it has more interesting bosses and less routes/areas to work with. If that’s a turn off, then use XY.

The discorders like to try to blame themselves for any praise of SM, because they think they're actually convincing people that they defend anything other than Kalos.
Of course it all falls apart when every single anti-Alola thread they make just "coincidentally" says Kalos is better, but the raiders haven't realized that yet.

If you're going to post screenshots at least use the one where the raiders actually talk about defending Kalos. Or even better, post the falseflag they made after getting caught where they randomly claim to love Alola.

This isn't even just an old thing. There was literally a thread yesterday of the raiders doing exactly what I described with one of their biased comparison images just like they make for the Unova threads.

Gen 7 are so close to being the best Pokemon games, if not for the awful pacing and tutorials. End game Poni island is the best dungeon in the series, whereas XY start slow and never get good. Also, SM with exp share off (or exp share on with rotating party) is the most authentically difficult game.

x and y is gay but if you could remove the text, plot, cutscenes, it could definitely be playable as a randomized nuzlocke. if you keep all of the extremely gay and retarded text and plot in, however, the game is unplayable.

US/UM is very close to being the perfect Pokemon game, certainly it’s the most complete. There are 2 1/2 problems with it though, handholding unskippable tutorials, an excess of cutscenes, and Rotom Dex (half a problem, fairly easy to ignore).

Ultra Moon is my second favorite mainline game, after Crystal, and ahead of Emerald, Heart Gold, and Black 2.

If you're doing a Nuzlocke, XY is the better option. You get a lot more encounters and there's a wider range of Pokemon to find even if you're not randomizing. SM takes forever to get going and doesn't have a lot of separate routes, plus a good chunk of Gen VII mons have weird stat spreads and gimmicky abilities that would make doing a Nuzlocke with them more of a pain than it needs to be. I think USUM is better than XY overall, but SM/USUM isn't Nuzlocke-friendly.
