I know it's a tired argument by now but there's literally no reason why the game shouldn't be able to look like pic related. Larger company with more funding for the biggest multimedia franchise in the world and lose to a game that's years older

BDSP *has* an art direction. You might not like it, but it has a foundation to which all of the aesthetics in the game are built around.
SV does NOT have art direction
It is the most generic cookie cutter, copypasted shit imaginable. Its supposed to be fucking MEXICO and yet its so half assed that nobody even notices aside from the starter pokemon.

BDSP does have an art direction but it doesn't stick to it, nor does it execute it well. The same is true for Scarlet and Violet although to a lesser extent. I admit it's rough in a lot of areas and I preferred Sword and Shields and PLA's visual identities, but it's at least coherent within itself. If you want to see a game which actually executes BDSP's art direction well then see the Mario RPG remake or the Links Awakening remake. BDSP looks very cheaply made and the bloom, muddy drab colors and plasticy texturing to the Pokémon and world clashes with the intended cutesy style. Also Scarlet and Violet are based on Spain not Mexico.

Exactly how much of a phone game-playing zoomer you have to be to think that crap looks good? Look at that flat texture on the rock.
I've seen the Switch move Crysis 3, it can do way better than that.

I hate chinkslop as much as the next person, but it looks significantly better than whatever gamefreak shat out and put no effort into polishing. If I had to give Genshit credit for one thing, it would be the way it looks as far as capturing the anime asthetic goes. Any more detail and you would be entering semirealism garbage that would clash with the pokemon and character designs, unless they completely redesigned that from scratch, which would push the designs into awkward uncanny valley crap.
