Z-moves and Dynamax at least were alive their whole generation, introducing stellar type and then just not using it anymore would make it the shortest gimmick yet, and i kinda hate that i know they will 100% drop it and never look back

Stellar straight up has no defensive profile. Your Pokemon doesn't even become Stellar-type, when becoming another type is tera's whole shtick. The fact that its super effectiveness is locked only to specifically terastallized Pokemon is more damning, because if it were to be put as a normal type on a Pokemon, it would be functionally typeless altogether, like a mono-Fire type that used Burn Up. Besides the transient nature of Tera Blast, there's also no Stellar-type moves. It seems pretty clearly isolated so it can be excised later.

Stellar type isn’t a real type and will be removed in next generation.
It’s a glorified buff to yourself and 2 whole moves. Its type effectiveness is tied to Tera and you can’t exactly have a “pure” Stellar type Pokemon.

It's not a actual type. More just a gimmick catchall type so that you don't have to spend effort into tons of Pokemon for type matchups.

There's no way that it'll come back as a real type unless if Tera is brought back. GF doesn't bring back previous gen gimmicks.

Friendly reminder that as of SM, all of these gimmicks we keep seeing aren't meant to have staying power beyond the game they're introduced.
They're meant to be base-level efforts to pander to the current generation of Japanese children of that time, a novelty devised in response to the turbulent era of Gen 5-Gen 6 where Pokemon was perceived by Japanese youth as "a franchise for adults", which is exactly why Yo-Kai Watch was able to spring up and mog Pokemon's JP popularity for a few years.
These gimmicks are supposed to offer a level of "personalization" for that generation of JP kids, giving them a novelty that they can call "the cool superpower from THEIR game", giving a greater sense of attachment to Pokemon in their developmental years and higher odds of them growing up into Pokemon consoomers.
If the gimmicks returned in the games to any capacity, they wouldn't feel as "personal" anymore, which is why you don't see them come back, even to a point where other games in the same generation don't share the gimmick.

I do think that it's possible that some kind of type-shifting mechanic similar to tera becomes a mainstay going forward, but probably not literally tera. It doesn't make lore sense and there was too much backlash to the dumb hats.

My guess for the next gen is that you'll be able to change your type, but it will be tied to a fixed set of stat modifiers rather than being freely chosen for any Pokemon. For example, you could give one Pokemon "spirit of the mountain", which changes its secondary typing to rock and increases its base attack and defense stats by 20%, but lowers speed and special defense by 10%.
