>>55116288guys i'm very new to collecting cards and i'm about to make my first "big boy" purchase (a cheap psa 9 card).
i've read online that apparently psa slabs damage the card because the card moves inside the slab and also, the slab supposedly causes condensation to form on the corners over time. also also apparently old psa slabs are "bad" for reasons i still don't understand (something about the plastic) and because of that the slabs should get replaces asap.
if all of this is true then in my mind the best option would be to take the card out of the slab and put it in a toploader but since i'm new, i don't know if this is a good idea (assuming the "dangers" of a slab are real in the first place).
so here are my questions:
1) is it true that the slab damages the card in any way?
2) would it be a good idea to buy a card that is already in a psa slab and then take it out of the slab just to put it in a toploader?
i don't plan on touching or moving the cards. i'm just gonna put them in a glass cabinet that i have and never touch them, just look at them.
also i'm not buying anything expensive yet because i'm sure i'm gonna make a lot of mistakes. i literally just went to ebay and bought the cheapest psa 9 from a seller with a lot of sales.
