What went wrong? I remember during SM data mining people made fun of Incineroar not getting a signature ability and then it turns out its generic ability was 100x better than Long Reach or Liquid Voice

Fire/Dark has a shit ton of defensive utility

Water/Fairy is one of the best offensive combos in the game

Grass/Ghost and Grass/Fighting have some of the most common attacking types as weaknesses and both have mons that do their jobs and typings better via Dhelmise and Hisuian Lilligant respectively

I don’t even remember people making fun of their abilities. Even on release I remember people being disappointed with long reach/liquid voice and desperately trying to find some secret unmentioned effect to them, after it was found water bubble had one.

And (most infamously) Vikavolt being slower than both Goodra forms, Clefable, Raging Bolt, Heatran, Gardevoir, Togekiss, Chandelure, Magmortar, Ghouldengo, Nidoking, Glimmora, and Roserade (and that’s just mostly the 80 speed-tier)

I legit don't know how you can use this ability. The new sound moves that Primarina learn don't need that to be good.
