It's movepool is shallow and underpowered, it has little coverage and strong moves.
I still use Zoroark because it's unique and hard to get but I'd never use it competitively

It was probably my most anticipated Pokemon after the movie and all the shilling it got. I forgot about it until BW2, and didn’t even end up using the gift one. They really should’ve gone with making it somewhat hard to get in game like Feebas, Spiritomb, or Gholdengo rather than making it exclusive to those who did the previous game’s events.

Everyone did have it. Anyone that was really into pokemon when BW came out had a Zoroark and/or a Zorua. The events were well distributed and easy to get in HGSS and we knew in advance they were gonna be used in gen 5, the people who couldn't do the events just used online websites to get a beast or a Celebi through trading

Yeah because they just got it with an action replay or traded with someone else who did. No one did event shit on the DS.

Also Illusion was not good enough to carry it, especially with team preview. It only really served to showcase the shortcomings of the AI in game

The entirety of the pokemon fanbase did event shit on the DS, and the beasts one especially were among the most well distributed ones.

Yeah i was super disappointed when i tried to troll a friend with Zoroark but then team preview gave it away
I was constantly bragging about my "unbeatable" triple battle combo of the three genies with EQ/Rock Slide Lando in the middle, and i was planning on having Zoroark instead of Lando
Team preview ruined it by exposing Zoroark in my team, why did they introduce this shit in the same gen where they introduced Zoroark?

Yes, it was a complete fumble and misunderstanding of what made Lucario succeed. Lucario wasn't even lightning in a bottle they were just dumb with Zoroark.

Without a doubt, yes. It completely neutered any chance of it being a shillmon. It also doesn’t help that it was just a worse copypaste of the Lucario strategy just 4 years later. Zoroark as a species was saved by Hisuian Zoroark (and by N’s Zoroark in B2W2, to a lesser extent).
