Nice to any any fears about this show treating Gen 9 like Journeys treated Gen 8 be dashed completely. Also hoping Liko and Roy both get their third captures on this visit, the two's teams feeling "light" relative to Ash's in previous seasons is one of the criticisms of the series I agree with the most at the current stage of the show.

In the same number of episodes (not weeks) Journeys had 18 out of 34, or about 53%. At this point, both Horizons and Journeys have tied for their respective peak scores at 89.3%. While Horizons has the lowest overall with its first week at 63.3%, Journey's lowest was 65.3. Still, Horizons has better consistency. Its average is 82.36 even with the aberrantly low first week, while Journeys' average is 79.3.

As someone who was here since the very beginning of /padt/, newfags to /padt/ don't know what they missed out. They wouldn't understand why people still don't trust the cabal even though they're long gone from /padt/. When you see people claiming the cabal doesn't exist or telling people who bring them up that they need meds, either they're newfags who never saw the cabal in action or they're cabal members/sympathizers. I'm telling you guys the pasta war of February-March 2020 was intense and for better or worse improved /padt/ and made it more ontopic instead of circlejerking over Oha Suta and the weekly variety show.

As an Ashfag myself, I'd prefer if the next Series is centered on the ICY universe, where ICY Ash is way more superior than the current souless Ash in terms of character.

You're getting it wrong. Discussion of the manga was never banned here. In fact, we have PokeSpe discussions here all the time, plus the Journeys manga was talked about here when that was still a thing. The difference is that cabal-era /padt/ was thoroughly uninterested in talking about the anime outside of airing days, instead talking about Oha Suta and the variety show as well as their hosts.

This is such a boring argument that someone always feels like they have to try to make. No one's saying that TPC is using Nicolive ratings to make any big business decisions. But they're interesting as a way to gauge viewer enjoyment and look at patterns over time. These ratings are also useful in that they provide a consistent, quantifiable metric that people can draw some conclusions from, and unlike pure viewership numbers, they try to evaluate the impressions of the viewers. It's by no means a perfect system, but it does tell us a bit about the tastes of the Nicolive audience, which is useful for people on here, whose tastes are more likely to reflect the Nicolive audience than the general viewership that watches Sazae-san and Doraemon in such high numbers.

The whiny pissbabies who are mad that Horizons is doing slightly better with the Nicolive audience can relax; 3 points is a significant but not huge difference. The people with zero curiosity can fuck off.

I'll never understand why so many fans still whine that only Dawn and Koharu being at the M8 is bad writing. The whole point of the different companions leaving was to pursue their own goals independent of Ash. All of them had shit do to, and keeping all of the companions away was one of the best examples of the production company exercising restraint with the characters. Them being at Ash's side would've made the whole thing even more of a Mary Sue moment than it was. Dawn could be there because 1) BDSP/PLA shilling, 2) Them needing a halfway competent battler to sit with Koharu and do commentary for her, 3) Dawn being a hobo.

I get shippers want their ship to win, but relax and be happy that the writers are showing your favorite girl being successful.

I just felt unconvinced and underwhelmed by the idea of Goh having to leave right before the finals. Goh was Ash's biggest supporter in the PWC-- he helped Ash catch and raise his entire team and gain the gimmicks he needed to win. Goh was extremely enthusiastic and freaked out over each battle, so having to lose him in exchange for two girls who hadn't seen ANY of Ash's PWC battles and didn't know the ups and downs of his team.. it was a definitive downgrade from Goh. I also don't think anything was gained, narratively, by having Project Mew and Ash vs Leon happen simultaneously.

Friede and Amethio's rivalry makes no sense considering Friede is not even the main character & has no interest in catching Rayquaza. Plot wise Amethio's rival should be Roy instead of Friede.

Maybe Roy has his first actual rival battle with Amethio which he lose and gets mock for trying to battle Rayquaza despite being weak which start Roy's depression arc. Eventually depressed Roy run into Ash who encourages Roy and gives him special training to take on Amethio.

I honestly don't get why the writers are shafting Paldea as much as JN did with Galar, and people seem ok with it too.

Sure we saw Nemona, lolno and the grass Gym leader, but it's obvious they're not going to touch the plot of the games, the DLC, probably not Arven, Penny or the new rivals, Team Star, or most of it honestly. I'd be surprised if we even get to see half the Paldea Gym leaders by the time this arc ends.

It's not.
The bulk of the main character's teams are comprised of Paldean mons and the central driving force of the plot is a Paldean mon, compared to the only prominent Galar mon for a massive chunk of the start of Journeys being Go's Scorbunny (no, Yamper doesn't fucking count). Massive plot developments have happened in Paldea already. We've also seen Nemona, Iono, and Brassius on first visit compared to the jack and shit direct appearance of game characters we got on Galar's first visit in Journeys.
If you think it's being treated as poorly as Galar was in Journeys you either didn't watch Journeys or have horrible memory

No, most of the game is being ignored and we have less than 2 years left of this series:

- The schools from the games are mostly ignored

- Nemona will probably appear again, but she can't function as a rival the same way as the games

- Arven and Penny probably won't show up at all at this point

- The DLC rivals/characters are unlikely to appear either

- Team Star is almost impossible to feature, it wouldn't make sense with them not at the school so those 5 Team Star characters will also be ignored.

- We'll probably only see roughly half the Paldea Gym leaders, I'd be surprised if we see them all since we know they're not going to battle them anyway. Most of the Elite 4 will probably not appear at all either

We can tell the series trajectory already being almost a year in, Paldea will get featured only loosely.

Now compare to the player character in Scarlet and Violet who is handed literally everything with no effort whatsoever. On top of that they introduce a character that exists specifically to make the criticism you're trying to force on the anime, and all the story does with this character is repeatedly humiliate him, have all the characters be mean to him, put the whole game world against him, until he randomly gives up and accepts that the player character is handed everything for no reason and he will never be successful at anything ever because he's not the player character. And the player character isn't even a predestined hero or anything of the sort, he's literally just a random kid with no personality that everyone likes for no reason and who always wins for no reason.

The whole series revolve around him and finding his special Pokémon, even Terapagos just a vessel to tell Lucius's story. While Liko pretty much promoted as his super special dependant and successor who will automatically inherit all his Pokémon for being born special.

At least Heath's journal gives us an actual mystery with lovecraftian vide that people actually discuss online unlike PM2023 which is just Lucious pandering.
