The episode was fine, but should still be banned on principle for being a criminal waste of backdrop usage with unintended physical side effects. Either they were just lazy or couldn't come up with something better.

i don't see why porygon had to be banned. the flashing lights aren't integral to it's design. it could have reappeared without issue. i also just remembered that it appears at the beginning of the Latias and Latios movie

No, what happened is absolutely tragic and I think Porygon will always kind of have the association with that due to it being its debut, but cutting it off completely beyond minor cameos is a bit sill. People can also try and shift the blame to Pikachu and shit too, but ultimately it was a poor choice by the production team
