Heath, the professor, and the player all have strange dreams where they meet someone and get access to information and items they otherwise could not possibly have had. The professor meets the protag from another timeline in a dream, and then the protag you play does the same. Everything we see about Terapagos, and the themes of the game in general, suggest that its power is to make dreams into reality. So if someone dreams of another timeline, Terapagos can generate whatever was witnessed there.
