This "muh saturation" shit is the stupidest conspiracy. GBA and DS sprites are oversaturated to compensate for the poor lighting on handhelds, they appear normal on the consoles but very bright and vibrant when rendered on a computer monitor e.g. on a webpage or via an emulator. This is true for every handheld game, not just Pokemon. Compare the SNES and GBA versions of Link to the Past for a great example.

The "desaturated" version is literally always how Pokemon were supposed to look. Look at the Sugi art, or the anime, or any of the home console games (Snap, Stadium, Colosseum, etc) that don't have to deal with handheld lighting issues.

Literally the only Pokemon that fall under this are early gen trash like Onix, Magcargo, or Spinda. I can't think of a single Pokemon since gen 5 that's genuinely too bad to use in-game, even shit like Basculin or Stonjourner are miles better. For all Gamefreak's problems they have undeniably gotten much better at balancing.

The vast, vast, vast majority of the playerbase plays 3v3 singles and 4v4 doubles. Smogon’s fanfic format is only relevant to the mouthbreather campaignfags on the western side of the fanbase who don’t even play it to begin with and just make memes about the tier updates every month.

People usually Aurorus from time to time because of its typing (Rock/Ice on top of being slow) and the fact its only special Rock STAB before gen 8 had 60 BP. Also you forgot Ledian for your early gen examples.

It’s the only Pokemon in the game that can set up Aurora Veil + Stealth Rock and its ability easily breaks sashes which is important in BSS. It turns out a lot of Pokemon can be successful if you actually play to their niches and strengths instead of being a campaignshitter who wants to mindlessly turn everything into a sweeper that spams min/maxed STABs against everything. How much do you cry about not being able to play gen 3 just because it doesn’t have the split?

Aurorus is bad but it's hardly Spinda levels of bad. Even without a good rock move it's still a fairly strong Ice type, speed and defensive typing is much less of an issue in-game where you will always have an EV advantage, and the defensive stats are plenty good enough when you don't have to worry about your opponent swapping to something that can exploit the typing.

There are at least a dozen pure shitmon from the early gens I could name if I had to. Simply put nothing from the new gens is comparable to how utterly useless things like Luvdisc are.
