Usually, all you would miss out on is Mythicals that were only given away via special event. Things like Pokewalker were superfluous. Even the battery running dry GBC and GBA games could be feasibly replaced if you were a little tech savvy enough to open up the cartridges.
But like, if I want to get a basic Pokemon like Palafin in 10 years on the Switch, the fuck am I supposed to do?
