Gen 8 dlc had the fucking max lair adventures where you could shiny hunt a shitton of legendaries, they seriously didn't even include something similar to that?

Nah. What we are getting is an "Epilogue" free update. Let's just hope that this free update adds more than just an Epilogue story. I'm still hoping it may also add a Battle Tower to the game.

I'm not even sure why they're calling it the Epilogue update when they could just distribute the event item right now and it'd work

Yep that's it. GF just has to put minimum effort and people will slurp it up happily so next game's DLC will just be a shiny-locked legendary catching rush with some gender-bent characters thrown in

We already have the epilogue in the game, anon - it's the Mochi Madness event for Pecharunt. It's currently locked because you need an event item that will be distributed via Mystery Gift around New Year's, and it's basically just a short storyline that brings you back to Kitakami to grab the Mythical. There's nothing else coming after that, and no battle facility in the game files whatsoever, so I'm not sure why you're expecting more.
