Entry Hazards are unironically good and force 6v6 to go at a better pace because they punish switching. Honestly the main issue with it is that there isn’t another copy or two of SR that can’t stack with each other so as to give Bug/Ice a break.

The purpose of entry hazards is to prevent endless switching. Spikes was their first attempt at nerfing switching and it was good except for the fact that it made flying types OP. So sneaky pebbles were introduced to nerf flying types specifically. Unfortunately a lot of other types got caught in crossfire, including things like bug which went from bad to shit. More unfortunately, that was the last gen GF actually gave a fuck about balancing singles, so this will always be the standard. Still better than rampant switch stalling at least.

Stealth Rock would be fine if it had a duration, like every other effect in game. You throw them up for 5-8 turns and they're balanced.

The game is simply not balanced for 6v6, singles or doubles, with level 100 Pokemon and was never intended to seriously be played this way. And I don't mean broken Pokemon, something as important as stat spreads even are just not balanced with level 100 in mind. With the way stats spike with levels, level 100 encourages less thought being put into your EV spreads. Basically everything uses simple braindead max 252/252 spreads. Only exceptions being to change what stat gets boosted with the UB/paradox pokemon abilities. Level 50 play doesn't see a massive spike in stats like level 100 play so more thought is needed for something as simple as EVs.

Why do you think defog or HDB were added despite hazards being nonexistant in doubles? Doubles is definitely their primary focus but they still clearly make singles-focused changes too.

If a mon is actually good, people will use it in spite of even a 4x SR weakness. Pic extremely related.
SR was a nail in the coffin at worst, and more likely just an excuse to stop even making an effort with some mons who were simply never worth it.

Gen 7 OU has 8 Pokemon weak to Stealth Rock. Gen 8 OU has 10 Pokemon weak to Stealth Rock (and keep in mind Gen 8 OU is also smaller tier in general due to dexcut, including several of the previous 8 being cut). There weren't any Pokemon that went from complete shit to OU viable due to boots except for maybe Moltres but Alolan Ninetales, Weavile, Dragonite, Blacephalon, and Volcanion all escaped UUBL hell thanks to it.
