Game Freak respected Gatr enough to actually get buffs because they don't have an unhealthy worship for Blastiose. Meanwhile Meganium and Typhlosion had the misfortune to follow Venusuar (Game Freak's favorite) and like CHARIZARD (TPC's favorite), so they're stuck being worhtless shitmons forever.

At least Typhlosion has something to resemble offensive stats along with a strong STAB move. All Meganium gets is constant ridicule from both competitive and casual players alike while not being able to fulfill its role as a support Pokemon properly.

Its always been good just a little shy of the power it needs to destroy its otherwise annoying checks like Rotom-W or Gastrodon. With tera it can beat out or overpower those mons. Gyarados has always been its main competition too.

Meganium looks like shit, is shit because of their huge disadvantage in the johto games, and sucks generally because its a grass type and they generally dont get good offensive moves. The only good thing about chikorita is that you can handicap your own rival by choosing totodile which means he gets a starter shitmon focused on defensive moves that will get silver absolutely fucked sideways and against the wall

Grass has plenty of solid offensive moves, leaf storm, petal blizzard, leaf blade, energy ball, etc. It's more that their distribution sucks and the mons that get them have awful spread.
