You could argue that they should learn at this point people still play the old games but they're still designing the games with the same philosophy.
With that said, it's easier than ever to find people to trade with or play in a union circle with. Reddit, Discord, Twitter, /vp/, whatever the fuck. These games are active enough you'll still get people to play with all the way until the online services shut down. Stop being a baby and talk to people, that's one of the themes of the series.
