he does use it all the time in comp
it's an amazing move because it turns off sun which a lot of paradox mons use
if you are playing vgc this even lets you help set up your aurora veils and such

I find it frustrating that GSlowbro is the only one of all 4 of them that isn't particularly good. Best you can do is meme Quick Claw sets, but otherwise its just worse off than the others. It's a shame, as having a physically defensive variant of GSlowking would've been really nice, samey-ness be damned.

Special is safer since it gets NP but not SD.
Could use Quick Draw Quick Claw bullshit but it might be able to get away with Assault Vest Regenerator or Self Trick Room.

For casual playthroughs, this is virtually meaningless, as they are painfully easy. To curb your autism, use it to your advantage and teach it at least one move of each split, so it can more easily take advantage of the opponent's weaker stat. Shell Sidearm, Zen Headbutt, Psychic, and Flamethrower as coverage-- gives you a STAB for both ends, and the best and most consistent coverage that hits Steels on their weaker end for 90% of them.

Then go to sleep as you proceed to not use any of this knowledge and mash A through the story and all battles anyways.

mixed attackers are bad unless they're just massive blobs of stats (pseudos, box legends, megas), ridiculously minmaxed (deoxys-attack, pheromosa), or both (mega rayquaza). something like, say, cacturne was never going to be good because it only has 475 points to go around.
limited movepool is also a requirement, because mons like arceus with balanced attacking stats and wide movepools basically never run mixed since they can just run special or physical and focusing on one is just flat out better.
at the end of the day, game mechanics are the issue.

Mixed attackers are shit in both Smogon and VGC. The very rare instances of mixed attackers being good are usually when it's a legendary like Regieleki or Deoxys-Speed with equal Attack and Special Attack. Their higher than average stats let them get away with wasted stat points.

bug arceus gives you a nice fighting and ground resistance/switch in. along with everything else. it doesnt even have to use STAB, just nasty plot and 3 moves with good coverage

Don't forget that that 3 of the 4 main weather setters are Special Attackers, and Slowking's is most bulky on the Special side. It can easily use Chilly Reception in front of Pelipper and Torkoal

He's fine as both a special and a physical attacker. Special is generally better because no burns and he can hit on the physical spectrum with psyshock anyway, but belly drum and gunk shot are both compelling reasons to run physical instead.
