>>55157848I always loved the way Hoenn routes tended to loop back on themselves. Stuff like Mt Pyre connecting back to Route 118, Rusturf tunnel and Meteor Falls connecting Vedanturf and Fallabor back to Rustboro respectively, route 103 connecting Oldale to Slateport etc. Even Dewford being accessible through surfing.
Really made the region feel like it was one whole.
I think getting rid of the gates connecting routes also really helped with that now that I think about it. They make routes feel much more like they exist in a vacuum and it's weird to me they decided to bring them back for gen 4.
