Is the DLC worth it? Despite its immense problems, I enjoyed playing Scarlet but I don't know if I enjoyed it enough to warrant buying DLC.

If you enjoyed the main game then yes it is worth playing. I'm on the same boat of "this game has huge problems but it was fun". If you liked how Scarlet handled story and character writing you're pretty much guaranteed to like the DLC since the quality is pretty much the same. The first part is more story driven while the second part of the DLC probably has the hardest battles in any Pokémon game, assuming you aren't bringing a team of level 100 Pokémon. I stayed within its level curve (lv. 70-85~) and it was really fun. I'm surprised Game Freak doesn't make these games harder by choice and not by incompetence.
The only real problem I have with the DLC is the lack of repeatable activities that don't require grinding menial tasks, and even then those activities are only worth it if you want some more character interactions and higher leveled rematches, there's no battle facility or anything of the sort. On the other hand, if you're playing on Switch you can get enough BP to do everything in one afternoon grinding with anons in the /bbq/ thread, grind is a bigger issue for the people on emulator.

When the games don't have any differences between playing with a male or female main character and the character you don't pick doesn't appear in the game, I'd rather keep the girl around instead of the boy.
If the unchosen character shows up as its own NPC then I go with the male character for the female NPC, but besides PLA they haven't done that since Gen 6.

It gets worse next DLC. We cuck him out of his position in the BB League Elite 4 (in record time, apparently), we have the option to fuck with his head by taking Ogerpon to the Championship Battle against him to publicly humiliate him in front of the entire school, and then we cuck him out of Terapagos (it chooses us right off the bat and starts happily walking up to us the moment it sees us, but Kieran freaks out and Masterballs it). We basically end up stealing it from him in the end while he has another nervous breakdown. In the end, we took everything from him, including his sister (which he actually does point out as well).

Forgot to mention, Ogerpon is programmed to have a higher-than-normal Critical Hit ratio in that Championship fight, and actually landing a crit on any of his Pokemon (even if it isn't specifically Ogerpon who does it) gets you a unique bit of dialogue where he literally accused you of being the main character of an anime. The kid KNOWS he's getting shat on as some kind of sadistic meta-joke.

NTA, but the games themselves aren't actually horrible - they have a pretty decently written story with actually developed characters in it this time around. The issues are all on the technical side, and some people are capable of looking past that if there's an enjoyable story there.
But you wouldn't know that - your just parroting the opinions of your favorite YouTubers, utterly incapable of forming a thought of your own and not even willing to give the game a try. You're judging without any actual basis for your hate beyond other people telling you "Game bad!"

Actually, just looked it up. I dunno about the crit rate, but the crit line from Kieran during his BB League fight looks like this:
