Nope, you're wrong. Kieran threw the ball when Terapagos was in its stage 1 form. Meaning if anything that was its most catchable state. Not only that but the ball actually locked which means the pokemon was no longer fighting to free itself, and third Kieran actually held the ball for a few minutes confirming that terapagos was indeed caught and his. Never in the series have they ever referenced a masterball failing, a pokeball yes, but the only time the masterball failed is when a pokemon ate one instead of activating it. Terapagos busting free cause it likes you and has a super saiyan 3 tera form is just literal plot bullshit that shits on established mechanics. They could of easily had Kieran use an ultra ball or regular pokeball, there was no reason to destroy a masterball other than "oh shit" factor

First is probably the product of Takeshi Shudo just hating the franchise's premise. Second is a case that technically, players weren't encouraged to minmax back then, cuz at the time the games weren't balanced around comp and the pokemon weren't designed to be comp viable, most of the ones that were were only so by accident. At this point the franchises preached "no pokemon is worthless :^)" stuff.
Third is just Kieran being a cuck on a cosmic level, as usual lol

Love how it proves my point for me btw, the masterball didn’t fail “because terapagos likes the player” (it doesn’t until after being caught by the player) or “because it has a super saiyan 3 tera form” (the ball stopped working because terapagos was absorbing a massive amount of tera energy because Kieran was retarded enough to terastallize it, independent of its form, which the player can use in battle perfectly normally afterward)

Most of the fanbase, at least those that post here, are larpers that think they're going to be competing at the world stage yet do very little to actually pursue that goal. So they do the easiest step they can, breed a team or just get a team with the right natures.

It's the same thing when people care about tiers in fighting/shooter games when they have no intention of playing on a competitive team and just play in random queue online. They feel like it applies to them when it doesn't.

All that to say I play casually and only for in-game purposes. So whoever I catch is who I use (with few exceptions).

Master Balls were never capable of keeping them if they wanted to leave.
