That's not true at all. The main story ends at the end of the base game. The DLC is just add-on stuff that pitches the question "BUT WHAT IF THERE WAS A DEEPER PART OF THE MYSTERIOUS PLACE, GUIZE???" But it's literally unnecessary to the story. It's more like a spinoff, if anything.

I'd go as far as to say releasing sometime this year was a must, and I don't mean January like PLA. The games have some more overarching issues, but a time extension could have done wonders for polish. I do expect Gen X to be 2026 to match the 30th anniversary plus usual timelines from Nintendo console releases, but if that's jumping hardware the extra year may not matter that much.

Even if you somehow fixed all the bugs and performance issues with another few months in develoment, Scarlet and Violet would still be irredeemable shit since they were built on a foundation of trying to force the traditional game format into an open world setting without making any effort to shape it to fit.

There is no way to make an open world game "fit" a linear story. The only way to motivate any sort of story progression is to block access to certain areas of the game, either with difficulty spikes or outright barriers. You're just complaining about nonsense at this point.

DF2014 is still more fun than 80% of AAA titles, if you’ve got the horsepower for your computer to not die to 2,000 kittens clogging your fort. Console games need to run smoothly and reliably first and foremost. Then in descending order of importance, a good game needs good gameplay, story, visual design, finally graphics, then controls and QOL issues like selectable menu speed, good reset speed, hotkey options, etc.

See, the issue with this is that it's a year later and the game still runs like complete shit. I actually really enjoy SV as a Pokemon game, and it's the direction I want GF to take the series, but holy fucking shit if the next game has anywhere near the amount of issues SV STILL HAS, I'm out.

But why not look at the norm instead of the exception?
