>neat dragon iguanas, but with cool doggy/kitty behaviour, make you want to protect them, but as you see them in the beginning they are far more than capable (literally save your ass from being Jasmine'd by raging hounds), they just carry a trauma because they were defeated by a fericious member of their race that also murdered their original trainers, so they follow you and become your ever loyal and reliable ride, hang out with you in picnics, gain your friends' approval and slowly recover their abilities, replacing HMs (no clown suit needed) with three mobility forms that don't bloat them as pokemon because they are only used to assist you as you explore the world, and finally, when you have completed your three friends' character arcs, they have their own character arc descending into the Garden of Eden crater they ran from when you started your adventure, shyly hiding in shame and fright from their violent sibling until they become your one and only hope, finally getting over their fear and stepping into the battlefield to protect you from the "Guardian of Paradise". Afterwards, they keep following you into your adventures even overseas, come out to protect your spiritually broken friend from the stellar power of the hidden treasure paldeans have been dreaming of for millenia and manage to somewhat meet their original partners across space-time, just one last time before going back to their lifes as your trustworthy companion

Arven feed them to it when he was younger and was forced to take care of it at the lighthouse lab. At the beginning of the game when the Treasure Hunt starts, the Raidon pops out when Arven mentions sandwiches. However, it has NEVER heard the word in our presence, which means it already knew what the word means from somewhere else. Anonymous

The fact that Ultimate Mode just fucking floats everywhere really takes the wind out of the sails of those scenes, especially the one where it squared up to the "alpha" in the base game. I still prefer Violet overall, anyway. The whole "AI and hyperadvanced time machine tech being hidden in Area Zero" twist I feel like works better for the futuristic professor rather than the past-themed one to me, plus I'm just a sucker for robots in general.

Like they went in with the theme of oast and future, but only bothered writing to make one story make sense (and as you said Violet works better relating to Turo's story, along with Miraidon being a perfect mix between motor(ised) bike and pokéride 'mon). That they seemingly included a copy of the Violet book in Cogita's room in Legends (which had her playing the role of loremistress from an earlier ancient era) just makes me think that was their intention with its addition (because it would make sense the long-lived lorekeeper would be interested in stories of lore from other regions she hears about while waiting for Arceus' Champion).
