The best 2d games by far as well. It does not deserve to get shit on. The thing is every gen that came after gen 1 and 2 never became as popular as those 2. Pokemon had these weird up and down periods where it became relevand and then irrelevant again. This chart shows the copies sold by each gen and you can see it. Also everyone has their own favorite gen so ofcourse opinions differ. Gen 4/5 was peak for me because that's when I got into pokemon on my own. I played blue yellow gold and crystal before it and even then i think gen 4/5 was superior. There really isn't much to be improved upon. I just hope they don't butcher any remake like they did swsh/sv
