I have a theory of my own about BDSP. My theory is that BDSP are like a "filter" game, that filters normies from REAL Pokemon fans. I will explain:
BDSP has no new flashy mechanics. It's just a normal old-school top-down-view Pokemon game with modernized IVs, EVs and Natures, no HMs, multiple TMs, etc.
But there's no Dynamax, no Gmax formes, there's no new formes for Dialga and Palkia (as those were saved for Legends Arceus), etc. Basically, there's nothing to really "sell" the game to normies. Therefore only real Pokemon fans that are satisfied with the core Pokemon formula are satisfied with BDSP. It's a niche game for real Pokemon fans that only improved what needed to be improved from Gen 4 (HMs, the Underground, Pokemon distribution, an improved Battle Tower, modernized Contests, etc) and didn't touch anything else.
So yeah, ILCA did a great job. Hating BDSP is literally the most normie behavior ever.
