>>55192177You are never going to hear this from anyone else on this board, even people that are trying to troll people that hate gen 8. I am happy to share why I enjoyed specifically Sword so much; here are my reasons that I enjoyed and still enjoy gen 8 so much.
>still made an attempt to have Battle Facilities and made them sort of uniqueI cannot deny that the Tower got gimped hard due to the Dynamax mechanic and them wanting it to be more accessible to be an online ranking tutorial, but Restricted Sparring is a great compromise to design something based around exploiting Dynamax (this is the only way to counteract limited healing) and Endless Dynamax Adventures made for a very unique rental facility that awards you well.
>QoL and trainingThis game still kept the Pelago styled passive training of gen 7, With Power items, you can max out one stat passively for 60 different Pokemon at most. Per stat, you can do that for 10 different Pokemon. I have over 400 level 100 Pokemon purely due to passive PokeJob training as well, so this game works extremely well as a launching pad of sorts for subsequent entries where training is not this passive.
>encounters, shiny huntingThis game struck an amazing balance between overworld encounters/random encounters and shiny odds. I'm not much of a shiny hunter, but in gens 7 and 9 it seems like they really just give shinies away either due to SOS or gen 9 being gen 9 and additionally they added in marks to make it more interesting. As of right now I am trying to get some shiny catch of the day Pokemon
>onlineBattle Competitions and event raids during the time of support peaked here. BCs were varied and the event raids were great ways to essentially distribute event mons and I am glad that event raids were carried over to gen 9, but the Battle Competitions have fucking sucked hard this gen.
