>>55203277Honestly it was gen 9 for me.
I’ve known that Pokémon never really had a strong grasp on lore or continuity but it never bothered me because my interest was always on the creatures.
But now after the plot of gen 9 is asking myself why I should even care in the plot or lore or world building since it won’t continue going forward:
Gen 6
>megas we’re introduced and dropped without explanation >vague Kalos warGen 7
>there are alien Pokémon (UBs) and we actually went to an alien world through a wormhole but no one cared about thatGen 8
> Galar tried to literally cover up is history (the mural covering the legendary wolves) but that was never explained much>”the darkest day” whatever the fuck that wasGen 9
>what do the hieroglyphs in area zero mean?>what is that large space with the rings carved into the ground?>will we ever get more paradox mons? No we won’t, bye bye fun concept Not to mention that the regions based off real locations don’t actually get much in the way of culture or history to make them distinct and interesting to explore:
>Galar was based off the UK but has no real culture to it>it’s history was vague and surface level>no actual culture to it>cities like the glowing mushroom city look great with a nice idea but are insultingly small and barren>Paldea is based off Spain but there’s not much to show for it>Alfornada city is barren as anything and doesn’t feel lived in at allHonestly I’m getting tired of being expected to invest my interest in something so superficial. Thank god the Pokémon are still solid because they are the only things I really care about in the franchise now.
