And if would be one thing if the lack of attention they get was due to fans simply not liking them but Typhlosion is particular is weirdly popular despite being a "bland wingless CHARIZARD" and even the other two aren't really hated enough by fans to justify Game Freak and TPC ignoring them.
Of course, Typhlosion getting a Hisuian form is a big blow to the THEY HATE JOHTO starters theory, but one could argue that if they really lked Typhlosion it would have gotten a mega instead but THAT would imply they hated Samurrot and Decidueye too which doesn't really make sense.
So there IS basis that theory, whether or not its true is for you to decide.
