Is it really that easy? Can fans fix everything bad Gamefreak does? Apparently yes. The 2nd gym (grass) just beat me to near death, and actually let himself be beat since Sudowoodo used Mimic when Rock Slide or Trailblazer could have finished my 8 hp, but I'll take it as an "anime moment" of them accepting I'm worthy of the badge.
Either that, or they weren't confident on Rock Slide's accuracy / Trailblazer getting through my Def boost so they banked on surviving 1 more turn to finish me with my mimicked Aerial Ace, and the strategy didn't play off.
