Let me explain why an ILCA-style remake of HGSS doesn't make sense.
Firstly, a faithful remake of HGSS means it'd have 493 Pokemon. Why the fuck would a post-Dexit set in Johto and Kanto have this particular number of Pokemon, with half of them completely irrelevant to the region being remade and available only via HOME. Not to mention that it completely doesn't make any sense for two different games to have the exact same pool of available Pokemon in the post-Dexit era. Direct connectivity between BDSP and the new Johto games is also completely uncalled for. They belong to two different generations (unlike DPPt and HGSS) and anyway why would a new game directly connect to some random game from the past and not the other games, especially its dirrect predcessor? It just doesn't make any sense...
Also, remaking HGSS is stupid in general. Why would a second remake be pretty much the same as the first one? What saved LGPE from redundancy is that it was based on a different premise than FRLG, its approach to the source material was different, its mechanics differed from most mainline Pokemon games. Whether it was a good idea is another thing but for sure it was something novel at the time.
BDSP, on the other hand, may have been a carbon copy of DP but at least it was the first and much-awaited remake of a game that has never been remade before, so this alone made it a "new" thing.
But what's the point of making a copy of a copy? The only reason for a second remake to exist is to be different from the first one. Getting a faithful HGSS remake is like getting nothing at all.
So, if new Johto games indeed happen they have to be either a sequel/prequel/alternate story/Legends, or a brand-new remake based on Generation II, probably with some smaller or bigger HGSS influences. Of course, this doesn't outrule ILCA, chibi graphics or general shittyness, but I think the risk of "BDSP-style HGSS" is minimal, unless GF are really out of their mind (which isn't impossible).
