And now we have a boring uncreative fanbase that's so afraid of change, that the concept of a game that's not legends, a remake, let's go, or another gen is foreign and outlandish to them.
Game freak can literally do anything and go any direction with what kind of games they want to release or give responsibility to. For all we know they could have a Johto game in the future where everything becomes a team rocket ruled dystopia that you the player and many others eventually stand up to with the title being "Pokemon Johto: corrupted" or a Unova game prequel where you play as N and see the origins of team plasma unfold called "Pokemon: origins of liberty." or they could just not make a Johto nor Unova game at all and do something entirely different, no one knows.
I honestly do hope that it's an ultimate passion project by talented creative ambitious fans that grew up with Johto who work for game freak like HGSS, but no one has any idea what gamefreak will do. We're in a less predictable era anon.

Again, gamefreak is much less predictable nowadays ever since legends arceus. So no one knows what they will announce on Pokemon day. They just have a general idea of it.
