They're never doing a non Western or Japanese country. Not to mention the real world isn't reflected in the games, otherwise Unova would have a colonization story yet it didn, all it had was that ancient Kings/pseudo medieval story going on. Only Sinnoh has so far and they avoided all references to it

meh. we either missed the BE ASHAMED OF YOUR ANCESTORS arc or its yet to happen as of G5, put its most definitely in unovas timeline somewhere, gamefreak just desided to to focus on fleshing out the pokemon-human relationship instead of tired, boring ass communist power grab technique.

I suppose. Colonization would be the worst topic the address in a Pokémon game other than war (which is one reason I don't love Kalos's lore personally). I just can't see it meshing well with what makes Pokémon games appealing to me. Because it would exist in the uncanny valley where it's too serious of a topic for them to address with any meaningful, realistic depth, so we'd get a weird tonal dissonance. I don't get why a regions history has to reflect the real world personally. Like afaik New York doesn't have much Zen Buddhist influence yet the box legendaries are designed based on it.

Nothing is on the level of Strange Souvenir in Alola. Just people looking for another example. The same with counting a backpacker who speaks Spanish when characters who speak foreign languages are rather common in Pokémon games starting with Lt. Surge.

Italy and Germany are likely happening someday, but I think they want to take a break from Europe for Gen 10
Doubt it would be Brazil either since it feels same-ish with Spain
