Transfers were a mistake, old save files are nothing more than crumbling ruins as a result.
Still remember getting a used copy of Sapphire in 2005 to complete my Hoenn dex and the guy was raising a shiny Swellow at Fortree City. That was kino soul.

The only time I got anything useful out of a used game was when I got a used copy of Y. That shit had several boxes filled with random mons from various save files and even countries (previous player must’ve traded a lot), some legendaries both from that save and other games entirely, as well as a Shaymin and the event Blaziken with speed-boost. I think there was even a Mon with pokerus. Was quite pleased. Unfortunately no other used game that I’ve gotten had nearly as much stuff, these days it’s usually some save file with like 1 gym badge, a starter and a few shitmons.

I remember one day back when Gamestop sold GBA games, my brother got a used Fire Red with a shit ton of shinies and Bulbasaurs with event items.
I only found out a few years ago that it was a save posted on GameFAQs. All the shinies were hacked by the way, in case it wasn't obvious. Battle Revolution flagged them as Bad Eggs because they had more than 510 EVs.

Then came to the internet to CRY about finding nothing. If you were "gonna save over it", you could have just, I dunno, deleted it and started a fresh save from the get-go, but povvo nature emerges by habit.
