I like how they showed her in the last Johto opening with Gary and Ritchie which implied they were all going to be at the Johto league only for her and Ritchie to get written out in favor of Magcargo toddler, Masuda’s self insert, and Blaziken shilling.

Masuda's self insert was good because of the Raikou Special reference.
But yeah, lack of Casey was a grave mistake. She should be there instead of that Magcargo toddler. They essentially ditched a pretty well-developed character.

Would’ve been better to have Jimmy instead, but the anime hates having any male protag interact with Ash outside of that one instance in the Zoruark movie.
It’s so weird that they went through the trouble of writing an episode that pretty much explains that she wouldn’t be able to get 8 badges in time for the league, yet they still used her for multiple chronicles episodes meaning they still liked her enough to keep her around.
