>>55256571>>55256935You guys are slowly realizing why sequels of any kind to stuff that's already good are complete shit.
The ORAS video is the culmination of this dude's 20+ years of experience with Pokemon distilled into a video about ORAS, it's simple and has no expectations placed on it.
This BDSP video now has to exist within the context of following up the ORAS video - rather than just being his raw, unfiltered thoughts on the game and the series, he has to spend half the video backtracking his previous points and essentially just catching us up on what he thinks of Pokemon now, 6 years later.
I also suspect he felt the need to top himself with this video, one thing I noticed is that the ORAS video seldom makes reference to the rest of the series or even the game that it's a remake of, he brings up RSE maybe half a dozen times for the sake of comparison, but I don't think any generation that wasn't immediately relevant to ORAS (i.e. anything outside of Gen 1, 3 or 6) was brought up at all, while this new video is constantly jumping back and forth between games, to the point where it goes extended sections without bringing up BDSP at all.
Of course this is kind of a problem with BDSP itself being a much different kind of game than ORAS - whereas the latter was the latest installment in an iterative line of games, the former is deadset on being as true to the original Gen 4 experience as possible, which means if you wanna bring up grievances or praise parts of the series that came after Gen 4, you're gonna have to make reference to those games specifically, rather than using the game you're currently reviewing as a vehicle to talk about the series as a whole... which just makes me question why he even chose to make this kind of video on BDSP in the first place.
