>>55289887You are not your story. Your story is not you. It's something you made. When it is criticized (and you should hope that it is, otherwise nobody actually cared about what they read) the critic is giving you a window into the experience of a reader. Learn from that and improve.
People forget what you say. People remember how they feel. Decide which kind of feeling your story should leave the reader with and write toward that.
If you have to explain it before the reader reads it, it's too complicated. Be gentle with your reader.
Characters inhabit a world. Thus, all world building is in service to the characters so they can present the story. It is not an end itself any place outside of the spectrum.
Third person is for literature. Second person is for green text. These are not the same medium.
If the story can be told without it being Pokemon, tell it without Pokemon. That way you can earn a dollar easily, and people looking for Pokemon won't find themselves reading a normie fic with Pokemon names sprinkled around.
Why do you want to write a Pokemon fanfic? There are no honors or prestige in it. If you have a Pokemon story inside you, that you want to get out of yourself, then it's fine to share. But it is an art for art's sake. It's not a path to fame and fortune like rapping over someone else's music or selling used cars. Be sure that you are happy with a future where you have written a story, posted it, received no attention whatsoever, and find yourself exactly where you are right now.
