I finally caved in and got Scarlet last month, kind of forcing myself to continue at six badges in. Only done like three of the actual gym leaders though, the other badges are from other stuff.

Not sure if I'll end up finishing the game or not. I'm not having a bad time when I play so far, but the novelty has worn off at this point. They weren't able to rebalance things and make the core of the campaign more fun so they gave you a lizard you can ride to skip over the core game instead. Just seems like a weak compromise.

I beat the game and never touched it again after the credits. Just try to remember what you have to sit through from the intro all the way to the professor battle.
