It's boring and the pokemon don't do anything or have any personality. The humans have TOO big of a focus, and it's not justified because they don't have the personality to carry a series. They just stand around talking 90% of the time.
That said, while it's execution is half baked, the idea of a series with an actual fucking plot that isn't just the same gym badge team rocket shit again is a massive step in the right direction. They flubbed it this time, but they should give it another try again with gen 10.
