They could have done things to make collecting more consumer friendly as an olive branch. They could have included a huge chuck of the older mythicals in their dlc legendary catchathon but they opted not to TWICE. If the dexcut was not done maliciously they could have chose to make the stakes of collecting lower by removing event exclusivity thus making things easier for the younger demographic which is said to be a priority over long time collectors. This priority is used by other adult fans to justify the dexcut but TPC/Gamefreak still has a cutthroat attitude towards monetizing collecting see the SWSH dlc only letting you get one of two legendary options per playtrough.
