Before they ran roughshod over WCW back in the late 90's, they were actually LOSING to the other company when before that, they were THE most dominant company in professional wrestling in the 80's and early 90's...at least until Nash and Hall left and founded the nWo, which pushed WCW ahead in both ratings and viewership until the WWF changed it's primary business tactics that once worked in the early years, but wasn't doing shit at that point and led to the creation of the Attitude Era, which was brought into play in order to compete with, and eventually overtake, WCW in the ratings. And as many would note, once WWF, now WWE, no longer had any major competition in the market, their product declined in quality since they were the only real game in town. Competition is GOOD for companies, because it inspires them to work harder to produce a better product.
