Here's what I would do for a overhaul of shines

Pokemon now have 5 default base color variants, they would be slightly less common.
>Lightest
>Light - Hue shifted and made lighter
>Regular
>Dark - Hue shifted and made darker
>Darkest

Shinies would also be completely redone in order to be more distinct than base colours, including the removal of subtle shinies which are relegated to being base colours.

A even rarer variant of shinies
>Albino - Turns a Pokemon all white with some minor colour, usually yellow/gold and red.
>Melanistic - Makes them completely black, some colours would be present.

And the rarest variant of shinies
>Iridescent - Has different colours to a regular shiny, but has special material effects that gives it a metallic/pearlescent/opalescence appearance radiating different colours or giving off little glitter in its colour.

Pokémon should have melanistic and leucistic forms. (Black & White)
And shinnies should be methodic instead of some random color inversion.
They should play off color schemes of other evolutions.
Blue Magikarp, Yellow Raichu, Purple Raticate, Brown Ratata, etc.

Albino is stupid.
Leucistic is better, without the medical/ health complications associated with albinism. These are also refered to as spirit animals by some cultures.
