I like actively swapping my party around and playing with all my pokemon without splitting my collection up so gen 7 is where my living dex stops, but it is complete through usum. If Home was pokemon ranch + amie (ideally + battle sim too, but at that point the games themselves would have less reason to exist so I accept that was never happening in any reality) I'd suck it up and use it and get the games necessary to fully complete the current dex, but it's just bank 2.0 so no thank you.

I have completed Home dex and I injected Zeraora and Marshadow in a USUM rom running on a hacked 3DS, tranfered them to Bank then Home to do it.

You can actually get Meltan any time now through Go and connecting Home to it. So as long as you have to two, you can get it once a week I think.

I believe you get about 5-10 Meltan during the time frame the box is opened (I think 15 minutes). The part that sucks is trying to evolve it since it needs 300 candies, but if you open the Meltan box often or play during the time they have the events, you can get those candy pretty easy.

You get a Melmetal in Home for simply connecting to GO, you don't have to do the grindfest of evolving Meltan to Melmetal in GO.

I have a living form dex (although I didn't bother with genders, just the ones classified as unique forms), and I also tried to get as much as possible with my own OT, and most of them caught in as early a gen as possible.
It was a pretty fun task that took up a few months of lockdown, and since then its been fairly easy to maintain when new games drop or a new method of getting an OT is added (like the BDSP Jirachi, or getting all of the Vivillons via GO).

Side note, I also made the choice to put regional mons at the end of their respective dexes (so Alolan forms after Melmetal, Galar mons after Calyrex, etc) just to make it easier on myself whenever I have to update for a new generation. Actually organising boxes and shuffling things around is way too inconvenient and unintuitive. I'll make the effort for the rare case where they add in a new alternate form like Bloodmoon Ursaluna but otherwise i'll stick to this method. I've also debated reorganising the end of the Kitakami/Blueberry dex so Dipplin/Hydrapple and the Johto/Unova paradoxes are together, but I think i'll stick to the dex order for consistency.

I got a complete living dex, a complete form dex, and a complete In Game Trade Dex. Also just for fun they're all caught in Pokeballs (Gen 3 was the worst to catch btw) and they all share my OT including the Vivillon patterns outside of the XY event patterns

If Home let you use the empty space when not connected to another game and let you pull up a second box for easily moving shit between them i'd 100% reorganise my entire home box, but having to go back and forth to shuffle things around is just so badly designed.

Everything except the new Scarlet paradoxes because I haven't bothered to play through the DLC on it yet.
Over the last few years I've been making living dexes with only mons from that generations set of games as much as possible. 1, 3 and 4 can be completely done without having to bring stuff up from older games.
>complete living dex in gen 1
>almost complete in gen 2, just need to trade over the unobtainables from gen 1 and breed them
>complete gen 3
>complete gen 4
>got pretty far into gen 5 but got bored of waiting for daily outbreaks and a handful of stuff that used to be obtainable with the Dream World isn't anymore
>same with gen 6, but now it's Friend Safaris
>aiming to complete gen 7 this week, only missing a handful of Island Scan mons and stuff that needs to be moved up now
>gen 8 is on the backburner, probably have a lot of it already but it's all spread out across multiple Switches and I can't be bothered to organise it all
>gen 9 is done with the exception of needing to replay SV to get second copies of the one time legendaries/paradoxes
>replacing my living dex as a whole so each gen is from the original set of games

I completed the national pokedex in oras and then I completed the Alola dex in gen 7. I never had a living dex (lots of trade backs with friends for legendaries) so I never had all of the mons of the first 7 gens in one game.
Gens 8 and 9 are not real pokemon so they don't count, I got all the pokemon that matter

I have everything aside from Heart Form Furfou which I'll wait for next month for.
I also went above and beyond and got everything outside of HOME as well (stuff like Totem Pokemon, Megas, Gen 4 Pichus). I guess I could play XD for a Shadow Lugia.

I don't have everything because I basically miss out a majority of the Switch games, in fact, I didn't get a Switch until 2021 and couldn't get Legend Arceus because I was broke. In fact, Pokemon Scarlet is the only pokemon game I got. Going to relied on Go and future games to complete my home dex.

You can just create a secondary account with a secondary free Home account (you can use GTS on the mobile version but is limited to just one at the time), in your main account you put a shit pokemon and ask for a legendary or something rate that you have on your secondary account, from here there can be two cases:
a) with your secondary account find the shit pokemon that you main left and trade to yourself that legendary so you now have two of the same and can ask for the legendary of the other version
b) a random dude trade to you the legendary that you asked for, so you now have 3
I did something like that on the 3ds era because i only have a 3ds and no friends
