>>55298776>Well certainly Moritsugu doesn't really mind simple minded consumerism if she wants anime to turn into fucking Disney.I think the Zootopia example is a good for what she's saying. And it's a great Disney movie. But I admit that the Disney and Marvel example is a bit clusmy, they are not exactly at the forefront of creating movies with social commentary.
>Miyazaki's works have never been fanservice heavy but he's not against depicting female beauty. His movies are full of cute badass women.People don't have a problem with female beauty but with sex-obsession. Miyazaki often puts women in the center of his stories and they have agency. They are often presented as beautiful, but without the reliance on panty shots and jiggle boobs or strange rapey situations. Then there is Chihiro who I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't consider beautiful but as an average-looking girl. A creator like this, especially among men, is unfortunately rare in the anime industry.
>Moritsugu is literally yapping "PRETTY GIRLS BAD"It's more so that overly sexualizing women is saying "GIRLS BAD GIRLS ARE SEX GIRLS NEED MAN"
>Yes, Miyazaki is an old school leftist. There is no "old school" or "new school". He is a leftist. That's why he put a queer character into Ponyo, hired a drag queen to voice a character in Princess Mononoke, and generally makes movies about anti-war themes, the environment, and empowering girls. These are the simple facts.
