I find it especially egregious that it isn't in Pokemon Go. Like, that game has a whole AR mode but the Pokemon don't even do anything in it, they just wait for you to pet them enough to play one canned animation and that's it.

Palworld does that with just better graphics.

A good option would be: Releasing instantly (in case of missions like in the Tera Dome or for the sake of completing the pokedex) or befriend them before it will be part of your team. Kinda like 'acquaintance'.

I hate Game Freak so fucking much. I love pre-numons more than any other franchise but THERE'S NO POINT if the things you can do with them are so limited. The appeal of Pokemon is the pokemon. Collecting, evolving, trading. Palworld has tapped into a gimmick, which is "not-Pokemon, but with guns and fort building". The true test for Palworld will be if Pocket Pair can maintain interest in the game once the novelty has worn off and the youtube streamers have moved on to the next thing.

Palworld covers what the most casual people in the Pokémon audience want, and they make up the majority. Those people just want cute or cool new monsters to catch. They do not care about shit like trading or pvp. It’s also not like Pokémon itself hasn’t been running on gimmicks since X and Y.
