Regardless of how incompetent Game Freak are and how bad the latest Pokemon games are, if PalWorld is allowed to rip off another series' assets then it sets a dangerous precedent. Especially if there's AI involved. If a small indie company is allowed to do it, there's nothing stopping bigger companies from doing it too. Usually when Nintendo C&D a project, it's because they are directly using assets or characters from the games as part of a fan-made project. Even if they're not selling the game for money, a copyright/patent holder has the right to shut down any unauthorised use of what they own and they may exercise that right for whatever reason (e.g. they intend to use the name of the game in the future, it may cause brand confusion, it may harm the image of the brand, etc.). The difference with PalWorld is that they are passing off said assets as completely original designs. And that will result in a much longer and more expensive lawsuit (if they want to pursue it) since they effectively need to prove that they copied the work instead of creating it originally.

This is why I'm not even going to bother with Palworld, if there's a problem with Pokemon is the obsession with "LOOK AT HOW HECKING WHOLESOME MY CUTE POKEMONINO IS I WANT TO HECKING PET IT".
I have no doubt that becoming this much of a magnet for numales and women is the reason the games have been getting increasingly casualized to the point of not even having a battle facility.

Leaving Pokemon entirely to comp autists is probably the best thing that could happen to this franchise, maybe Game Freak would stop being passive agressive towards Pokemon Showdown and try to understand why people like it.

Fun minigames/Pokemon interactions and challenging, compelling gameplay aren't mutually exclusive, better games have proven this already.

We would have Pokemon games with every ounce of fun sucked out of them. No interesting or offbeat moves that could affect the meta in unpredictable ways, certain Pokemon that will get outright nerfed in to uselessness because "We would really rather you didn't use this Pokemon", Pokemon that will be routinely gutted for the sake of balance, and a complete dissolution of the RPG mechanics, to the point where it may as well be a lobby game with no single-player or leveling whatsoever.

They've already shown that they can have casual gimmicks/minigames and challenging content all at once with Emerald and Platinum. And they basically confirmed it with the OR/AS interviews where they said the only reason they cut the BF was because they didn't think it was worth the effort, not that there was a shortage of time or resources or anything. They're entirely capable of it but choose not to, which makes it an excuse.

Only problem I see with Palworld is that now I see people saying that what Pokemon needs is more slop added to the open world and that it needs shit like crafting or base building.
Palworld doesn't fix any of the issues with Pokemon, it just focuses on everything that isn't the combat, so of course it appeals to the casual fans who seem to unironically think Pokemon is all about running around the open world aimlessly with Pokemons.

If GF takes lessons from Palworld then they'll just shit out SV but with base building, when what SV needs is to be torn down and reduced to just the combat.

That just shows that the appeal of pokemon is different for different people. Like I love battling but for me the big draw to pokemon is going on adventures with hour super powered pets that help you overcome challenges. I hate wasting moveslots for HMs but I loved the idea of riding your own pokemon across the ocean. Or cutting down trees or pushing large boulders. It was barely interactive but it felt like it was you and your superpets just doing cool shit. Nowadays that stuff is relegated to a cool bike or some sorta flying taxi. Or at best something like Corraidon who is your one of a kind super special pet that does EVERYTHING. I dont have any plans to play Palworld but I feel like that's why people are latching on to it.

Isn't palworld HM slaves the game? You need a pal with the flying ability to fly and each pal have the different abilities so it's like HMs you can't teach and still eat a team or base slot.

Combat is and always has been the worst part of the main Pokemon games, at least from a singleplayer perspective. Press A to sweep with super effective simulator has never been engaging, the only games to actually have enjoyable battles are the games not made by GameFreak i.e. Colosseum where there's actually interesting shit going on.

True, which is why the problem with Pokemon is that it's just too easy and never forces you to learn anything beyond type advantages.

The games should be balanced in order to teach you, indirectly, different forms of strategy and how to team build.
IMO they could do this by making it so Gym Leaders, Elite Four etc, instead of having Pokemon of a specific type, they just have different battle styles, you give one a stall team, another has one focused on hazards, another being hyperoffensive etc.
